Charles bungs Camilla’s sister ANOTHER £50,000: Prince commissions her interior design firm to refurbish holiday cottages that are part of the Duchy of Cornwall
The Duchess of Cornwall’s sister, Annabel Elliot, continues to be a beneficiary of Prince Charles’s largesse.
Funds in Annabel’s interior design company have increased by £244,361 — boosted by £50,000-worth of commissions from Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall estate, which funds his lavish lifestyle.
According to new accounts, net assets in Annabel Elliot Limited leapt from £173,360 to £417,721 over the year to March 31, 2017.
Annabel, 68, Camilla’s younger sister, has been employed to oversee a huge interior design commission from the Duchy of Cornwall — a 20-bedroom pub in the centre of HRH’s Dorset model village Poundbury.
She has also been paid for refurbishing the Duchy’s holiday cottages in Cornwall, the Scilly Isles and Wales, plus the Duchy’s office in Restormel, Cornwall, and Penlyne Nursery, also in Cornwall.
The Duchy of Cornwall’s accounts say: ‘During the year the Duchy paid Mrs Annabel Elliot, the Duke of Cornwall’s sister-in-law, in the normal course of business and on an arm’s-length basis £24,045 for fees and commission, and £27,752 for the purchase of furniture, furnishings and retail stock for the Duchy of Cornwall holiday accommodation, Duchy office at Restormel and Penlyne Nursery.’
In total, the Duchy of Cornwall has paid Annabel Elliot £1.5million for goods and design services since Camilla married Charles in 2005.
Some think she has been richly rewarded for abetting Camilla’s secret extra-marital romance with Prince Charles.
She runs Annabel Elliot Limited from her country house in Stourpaine, Dorset, where she and husband Simon allowed Charles and Camilla to hold secret meetings while he was still married to Princess Diana.
The Duchy admits the contract for the work was not put out to tender.
But a spokeswoman says that Elliot understands the Duchy’s commitment to environmental sustainability and to sympathetic design which is in-keeping with the local area.
She adds that she has been instrumental in helping the holiday cottages to achieve five-star ratings by the English Tourism Council.
