Prince Philip: Duke of Edinburgh bans Sarah Ferguson from THIS royal privilege
PRINCE PHILIP has banned Sarah Ferguson, the ex wife of his son Prince Andrew, from participating in a well known royal tradition. The Duke of Edinburgh prevents her from staying at Sandringham House with the royal family at Christmas time, an insider has told us exclusively.
Prince Philip, 96, is believed to have a long standing feud with Sarah Ferguson, 58, the ex wife of his son Prince Andrew.
Sarah still lives with Prince Andrew, and is mother to Princess Eugenie, 28, and Princess Beatrice, 29.
The Duke of Edinburgh shows his feelings towards the Duchess of York through refusing to let her stay in Sandringham House, an insider told Express.co.uk in an exclusive interview.
It is believed the Duke of Edinburgh, who is husband and consort to Queen Elizabeth II, has banned the Duchess of York from a particular privilege enjoyed by other members of the royal family.
Sarah is not allowed to stay at Sandringham House during the royal family’s annual Christmas trip, a royal insider exclusively told Express.co.uk.
“When she comes up for Christmas, if she does come up, she’s not allowed to stay in the house,” the insider told us.
The source explained that this was due to Prince Philip. “To be frank, the Duke of Edinburgh doesn’t like her,” the source said.
Instead, Prince Andrew’s ex wife is required to stay elsewhere at Wood Farm, a much smaller cottage on the Sandringham Estate.
This is true of all visits to Sandringham, the source explained, including any family gatherings at the location through the year.
“They all stay in the main house apart from the Duchess,” the source added.
“Prince Philip detests Sarah and has never forgiven her for what she did in America.”

The source was referring to a series of scandals surrounding Sarah Ferguson and the royal family in the past.
It is public knowledge Sarah was revealed to have an affair with Texan billionaire John Bryan in 1992.
Later in 2010, she was filmed by the News of the World offering access to Prince Andrew for a sum of money.
It has previously been said Prince Philip will avoid Sarah Ferguson at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding on 19 May.
It is expected Prince Philip will take special measures to avoid Sarah at the wedding, in order to avoid “causing a stir”, according to an insider source.
Asked whether Prince Philip will be likely to react to Sarah’s presence at the occasion, the source said the Duke will respect his grandson.
“He won’t want to cause a stir because he understands it’s his grandson there,” according to the source.
However, it is believed he will keep his distance once given the opportunity at the wedding reception.
“He doesn’t want to cause any upset but at the end of the day when they go back to the castle for a reception he will not be anywhere near the Duchess.”
Sarah Ferguson was not invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011, and this meant such a meeting was avoided.
