Meghan Markle and Prince Harry bag Sir Elton John as royal wedding singer in sweet homage to late mum Princess Diana
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be treated to a moving performance from Sir Elton John.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have asked Sir Elton John to sing at their royal wedding on Saturday 19 May 2018.
The 71-year-old superstar will take to his famous piano and serenade the newlyweds two decades after his iconic rendition of Candle in the Wind at the funeral of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.
According to TMZ, the Circle of Life hitmaker accepted their invitation to sing, but it is unclear whether he will perform at the church ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle or at their reception at St George’s Hall.
It may come as no surprise to some as Elton pulled out of his Las Vegas shows booked for this weekend months ago due to a “scheduling conflict”.
It seems he cleared his diary just in case the couple got in touch, as just last month he said he would love to perform for Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36.
He said: “If they asked me to, but I haven’t been asked to the wedding yet. I would love to be at the wedding to see them because I think they are happy. I know they are so happy.”
Elton was close to Diana who died in August 1997 aged 36 in a car crash.
He recently said he thinks she would approve of Harry’s choice of bride.
