Prince Charles pays loving TRIBUTE to Camilla in a new TV documentary

PRINCE Charles will pay tribute to his “darling” wife Camilla in a TV documentary tomorrow, describing her as “the best listener in the world”.

Reflecting on her charity work, the heir to the throne will reveal how seriously Camilla takes her royal role.

Charles, 69, tells ITV’s The Real Camilla: “My darling wife has been absolutely wonderful with all these charities and takes a huge interest.

“She does have a wonderful way with people. She’s remarkable, really. She’s the best listener in the world. She can get anything out of anybody and find out their history in a very short time.”

Charles was speaking before he was confirmed last week as the future head of the Commonwealth . The move once again calls into question whether Camilla will become “Queen” when her husband accedes the throne. Clarence House has always insisted that she will be known as “Princess Consort”.

And writer Giles Brandreth, who knows the couple, tells the documentary Camilla has never wanted to be Queen.

“She’s not interested in status. She is a very normal person who has found herself in love with the person who happens to be the Prince of Wales.”

Last night Charles and Camilla joined the Queen to celebrate her 92nd birthday at a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The royals, including Prince Harry, enjoyed music by Sir Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue and Sting.

During the documentary, which followed Camilla as she turned 70 last July, her nephew Ben Elliott reveals she is called “Gan Gan” by her five grandchildren – the same nickname Prince George uses for the Queen.

Asked whether it is nice to be a grandmother, Camilla replies: “Wonderful. You can give them the things their parents won’t allow them, and give them back again.”

Camilla’s friend, actress Joanna Lumley, also contributes, revealing the royal’s fear of public speaking.

I’m sure she misses the fact that in the old days, she could do anything she wanted and nobody would have observed her

“The first speech was at the Ritz and I’ve never seen anybody so frightened.”

Speaking of Camilla finding fame later in her life, Ms Lumley adds: “I’m sure she misses the fact that in the old days, she could do anything she wanted and nobody would have observed her.”
